Can a swap site take my coins if I never create an account

Yes, a swap site can still take your coins even if you never create an account. The absence of an account does not protect you from theft, because the site controls the exchange process from end to end.

You send from your own wallet straight to the exchanger — nothing to connect, no account, and you stay on this page throughout. Rates are indicative until a swap is opened.

The swap is carried out by an independent exchanger and the deposit address above is theirs. watifsol.xyz never holds, receives or controls your funds, has no key to that address, and earns a referral commission. Opening a swap sends your receiving address, IP, browser and timezone to the exchanger for their compliance checks; we store none of it. Check their terms, fees and country restrictions before sending anything.

When you use a swap site without an account, you typically send your coins to an address the site provides. The site holds those coins. It then sends you the other asset. During that interval, the site has custody of your funds. If the site operator chooses to keep them - or if the site's software is malicious - your coins are gone. No account is required for that to happen.

Account creation changes nothing about custody. An account is just a database record linking your past swaps to a label. It does not give you control over the coins while they are in the site's wallet. Whether you log in or not, you are trusting the site to return your funds after the swap.

This trust is the core risk of any centralized exchange method, account or not. The site's server executes the trade. You cannot force it to honor the transaction. If the site disappears, shuts down, or simply decides not to send the output, you have no recourse. The coins you sent are gone.

Some people believe that without an account, a site cannot know who they are and therefore cannot be held responsible. This is correct in the narrow sense that the site has no identity on file. But it is irrelevant to the question of theft. The site already has your coins. It does not need to know your name to keep them.

There are technical measures that reduce this risk. For example, a swap site might use a crypto-scams-taxonomy/honeypot-token-unsellable-contract/">smart contract that only releases your funds when certain conditions are met. That removes human discretion. But most instant swap sites do not work that way. They rely on a hot wallet and a script that sends the output. The script can be overridden or turned off.

Another risk is that the site itself could be hacked. If an attacker gains access to the site's wallet, they can drain it. Your in-progress swap becomes a loss. Again, account or no account, you are exposed.

The only way to eliminate custodial risk is to avoid handing your coins to a third party at all. This is the subject of the hub page "Swapping crypto without an account." That page explains methods where you retain control of your funds throughout the trade - peer-to-peer exchanges, atomic swaps, or on-chain liquidity pools. Those methods do not require an account either, but they replace trust with code or escrow mechanisms.

If you use a custodial swap site, even without an account, you are making a bet. You are betting that the site will not steal from you, that its software will not fail, and that its operators will remain honest and solvent. That bet can go wrong.

There is no way to make a custodial swap safe by skipping account creation. The risk is inherent in the design. If you want to avoid that risk, you need a different kind of exchange, not a different login process.

So the short answer is clear. A swap site can take your coins whether you create an account or not. The account is irrelevant to custody. The only relevant question is whether you trust the site with your coins at all.
