Why some no-account swaps still ask for an email or a refund address
They ask for an email or a refund address to give you a way to recover funds if the swap fails, not to track you or build a profile. The request is a safety net, not a registration requirement.

Status: waiting for your deposit
You send from your own wallet straight to the exchanger — nothing to connect, no account, and you stay on this page throughout. Rates are indicative until a swap is opened.
The swap is carried out by an independent exchanger and the deposit address above is theirs. watifsol.xyz never holds, receives or controls your funds, has no key to that address, and earns a referral commission. Opening a swap sends your receiving address, IP, browser and timezone to the exchanger for their compliance checks; we store none of it. Check their terms, fees and country restrictions before sending anything.
When you swap crypto without an account, the platform has no way to contact you after the transaction is initiated. No account means no stored messages, no support ticket tied to a profile, no way to push a notification. If something goes wrong - a network delay, a wrong memo, a temporary liquidity shortage - the site needs some way to reach you or to send your coins back. An email address serves as that contact point. A refund address gives the platform a destination to return your deposit if the swap cannot complete.
The mechanism works like this. You submit a swap order with a destination address. The platform receives your deposit and attempts to send the output. If the output transaction fails, or if the platform detects an error before broadcasting, it cannot simply hold your coins indefinitely. Without a refund address, the platform would have to guess where to return the funds. Guessing is dangerous. Sending to the wrong address means permanent loss. So the platform asks you to provide a refund address at the start. If the swap succeeds, the refund address is never used. If it fails, the platform sends your original deposit back to that address.
The email request serves a similar but slightly different purpose. Some platforms use email to notify you of a failed swap and to coordinate a manual refund. Others use it only for status updates you can ignore. A few platforms encrypt the email and store it only for the duration of the swap, then delete it. You have no way to verify that deletion, but the point is that the email is not linked to an account. It is a single-use contact point.
Why not just skip both? Because a no-account swap that offers no refund mechanism is effectively a donation. If the platform loses your transaction, you have no recourse. The refund address is a standard feature of atomic swap protocols and non-custodial exchange software. It is not a trick to collect your data. It is a consequence of the design: the platform cannot hold your coins, so it needs a place to send them back.
The email address is more optional. Many platforms let you skip it entirely. Some require it only for large swaps, where the risk of failure is higher. A few require it always, because their support process is built around email-based ticket handling. In those cases, skipping the email means you accept that if the swap fails, you may never get your coins back. The platform will not be able to find you.
None of this changes the fact that the swap happens without an account. You do not log in. You do not store a profile. The email or refund address is a temporary parameter, not a credential. The platform cannot use it to browse your history or link your future swaps, because it has no database of past swaps tied to that address. Each swap is a fresh transaction.
